Can someone explain why they signed Cousins and drafted Penix?

The Saints pick wasn't sexy but it was needed. The falcons pick puzzles me. I dont see Penix as a franchise guy especially with the injury history and inaccuracies he showed when pressured and he had to move off his spot.

That cousins is 35 years old and Penix could be a franchise QB.

If you think Penix is a franchise qb you 110% take him. It’s the unquestioned right move if you have him ranked highly. Guys tend to do well when they can sit a year or so. Kurt is 35 and coming off a bad injury.

They suck at QB

Signed an average QB

Drafted a potential stud QB

Where’s the problem?

They owe Kirk 90 mil guaranteed lol, can get out after 2 years. Why not just stick with a scrub if you were going to draft a qb?

Agent Fontenot doing work. Well done, Saints. The Falcons don't need help screwing up, but y'all sent us the worst drafter in your front office, apparently

Pennix is 24 years old. If Cousins plays 3 years, Pennix will be 27 before becoming the starter. That coupled with his injury history and how he fell apart in the face of pressure makes this a bit of a head scratcher for me.

They also needed pass rushers and had their pick of them at the pick.

Then you also have Cousin’s who can’t be happy that you are picking his replacement instead of somebody who can help him win now.

In about 8 years, when Penix develops into what Geno Smith is now, you will rue the day you scoffed at the Falcons decision-making.

Not sure but I'm glad they did it. Just shows that they're a mess and as long as they keep doing stupid shite like this, it's a good thing for the Saints.

This reasoning has worked well for the Packers.

I think a lot of young QBs fail because they are thrown into the fire too early. It's a rookie contract, so not a lot of money, and in 2 or three years he may be a helluva player.
