Why don't we eat them. Nutrients are legit. Anyone ever try them?

Energy: 171 kcal
Protein: 13.7 g
Total lipid (fat): 11.9 g
Ash: 0.79 g
Carbohydrate, by difference: 1.15 g
Calcium: 99 mg
Iron: 4.1 mg
Magnesium: 13 mg
Phosphorus: 170 mg

Never seen them. We get duck eggs at the local farmers market. They are fantastic.

From what I was once told they are simply too expensive to produce and market in viable amounts.

Turkeys only lay a few times in a year so harvesting the eggs in a volume worth doing is not possible.

What farmers market do you get them? I am always in the lookout for duck egg sources. We are in BR but will travel to get them.

Growing up, I had a neighbor who tried raising turkeys. They said the eggs were too hard to crack, not like a chicken egg you can just crack on the side of a pan. I don't know this to be fact, just what I heard when I was a kid.

Modern Farmer: Why Don’t We Eat Turkey Eggs?
This article says the larger turkeys are more expensive to feed and house than a chicken, they don’t start laying until later in life than chickens, and they lay a lot less eggs (though some commenters claim they have turkeys laying every day or two).
