Beaches on the coast are awesome

Rent camping gear and camp at some of those beaches. Sunset over the Pacific and the sound of the Pacific waves, as well as the morning sunrise are memories that will stay with you when hotels and bars all sort of mish together.
Oregon coastal parks deserve your attention.

Don’t listen to Brad, 42, from Cade’s views on Portland and Seattle because they’ve probably never been to either

As someone else mentioned, the Pinot Noir from Oregon is some of the best in the world. Ideal growing conditions.

if one goes to the Portland area and doesn't partake in the pinot's from that region- they're missing out.

Visiting some of the wineries around there needs to be at the top of OP's list of things to do.

Check out the Mcmenamins Kennedy School hotel.

That is extremely cool. I would never have considered an old elementary school would succeed as a neighborhood boutique hotel. The artwork is not my cup of tea but they did an amazing job tying it all together.

Well y’all have truly delivered and thank you to everyone who posted. I’m just getting settled in to my room today but may drive across the river for some food. Hoping to get out on each Sunday from here on out. Looks like the job is gonna be very taxing so I’m sure I will need some reprieves on Sundays.

Thanks again.

There are many awesome record stores in Portland, and some really great head shops.

Awesome! Thanks for this tip. Please let me know of any particular record shops for good rock and metal. One caught my eye here in Beaverton yesterday as I was driving by called Exiled Records. Will check that one out since it’s so close.

Do you enjoy wine? If so, there are a lot of amazing wineries in the WIllamette Valley just outside of Portland. The best pinot noirs come from that region. You'll not be disappointed.

I’m far from an aficionado but I can definitely appreciate a good red wine. Thank you for this tip. Definitely putting it on the list if the best pinot noirs are from this area.

Kenton club has heavier rock.

I know some of the bands that play there sell their records at Mississippi Records.

Music millennium is “is the oldest record store in Pacific Northwest “
Has a huge selection.

Since you are out there, where it happened, have you read the book or/and seen the movie "Leave no Trace"?

Yeah well I’m here for work since you didn’t catch that in the very first sentence of my post you’re responding to, so I actually am being paid to be here.

So you’re saying if you had to come here for work you would quit?

Went there for the first time last month and the short time we were around downtown I had no interest in exploring any of it. Just a gross feeling all around. We spent most of our time up in the mountains. They have some gorgeous hikes that are a close drive from Portland up near the Timberline Lodge area. Definitely worth it to drive up there and explore.

That being said, this place is really cool as the other poster suggested:

You can also take the max to the zoo/holocost memorial/ rose garden/ Japanese garden. You get off in a tunnel and ride an elevator up to the top. The rose garden is free and you get a nice view of city and mt hood. The Japanese garden cost but is worth it as others have said.
