Any one read this one?
By Clavell, the author of Shogun.
I’m about 3/4 through it.

Is it as good as Shogun? I'm about 2/3 done with Part 2. This has been a pretty good read, so far.

It starts slower than shogun.
Good characters and same good pacing.
Not as good but still a very good book.
Couple of really annoying characters. Haha!

It is not as good as Shogun. Out of the Asian saga, only King Rat comes close but it is not as good either (and very different).

Yeah, still a very good book, but not as good as Shogun. Dirk Struan is a boss.
I'd rank the Asian Saga as;
Shogun
Noble House
King Rat
Taipan
Gaijin
Whirlwind
Taipan is a moderate step down from the top three, and the last two are a decent step down from Taipan, but still solid books.
Top three are outstanding.

Cullem is the opposite. What a puss.
Didn’t know there was a book called Noble House.
Probably won’t read King Rat. Movie sort of ruined it for me.

I liked Tai Pan and Noble House a good bit.
It must have been wild to live in Hong Kong in those days.

Tai Pan and Shogun are both outstanding reads.
Great stories and characters in both novels.

Finished Tai Pan and really enjoyed it.
I’m 10 hours on audio into Gai Jin and I’m giving up.
Not worth it.
