According to the booking on Lane County's Sheriff's Office Jail Viewer, Austin is still in custody as of Tuesday evening. Hit and run with a vehicle is a class C felony in Oregon.
Austin, 19, was not at Oregon's spring practice on Tuesday morning but had been seen previously throughout spring camp. A member of the 2023 recruiting class, Austin was a former top-150 prospect in the country, committing to Oregon over other top-tier programs like Alabama and LSU.
During his freshman season, Austin saw playing time in three games, recording three tackles and one pass breakup. Austin had been progressing well through spring camp, as co-DC and secondary coach Chris Hampton mentioned Austin as a candidate at either STAR or cornerback.

Dispatch records show that the call initially came in as a stabbing around 9:15 p.m. The 46-year-old male victim was found in the road with a large laceration to their neck and a hammer nearby. Police would not comment on this 9-1-1 call, saying that it’s a complex investigation and their investigation is ongoing.
So the victim had his throat slit while holding a hammer?
