It's been awhile since I've been on here and just wanted to talk some football with a fanbase that actually has insightful input about the sport. Texas fans have already annoyed me beyond belief.
I think I watched more LSU games this season than my whole life combined. Rough season, but I know what you're feeling too. We're lucky as hell to get a BCS bid. How do you feel about your game with GT? You guys think you'll be able to stop that impressive GT ground game?

We have the ability to stop it, but will we? Who knows this year...

Pros: 4 weeks to prepare for their offense instead of 1; 4 weeks to get your mind right and ready to compete.

Cons: Defense has suffered from assignment confusion, players not being in the right position to make plays, and poor tackling... all of which could lead to 500+ yards total offense for GT.

There is a reason nobody in the SEC runs the option anymore. The SEC defenses have too much lateral speed for the option to be successful. Despite the horrible defensive gameplans LSU still has some of the best defensive team speed in the country. I don't see the option being successful against them.

Yeah I was really surtrised with defense this year. Granted, you guys lost some absolute freaks and a great defensive coordinator, but I thought you guys would still be solid on that side of the ball.

Trust me when I say we all did.

All those freaks on the D got replaced by more freaks. I would say the talent level dropped just a little because we lost Dorsey, but there's no reason we should have been this bad on D this year (except for losing our coordinator).

No. We won't get gashed like Miami and UGA did, but we won't stop it.

They'll beat us in a close one.

Good point. At least we have an example of what not to do.

Hey now with that Buckeye statement. Anyways, Peterson impressed me alot this season. His covering skills could use work but he'll be a beast come next season. He certainly isn't afraid to come up and lay the wood. Last time I heard you guys had a sick 2009 class coming in. Seems like you'll back up at the top soon.

Thanks for stopping by.

Unless we play completely differently than we did this past season, we will get blown out. I hate to say it, but we couldn't stop anyone. Ga. Tech throws more wrinkles at you than you can account for and they will be a handful. It could get ugly.

Or, we could get our heads on straight and play the LSU football that we are capable of. We'll see. At any rate, I'll watch every minute of it and cheer them on.

I think we can pull it off.

I heard the players in Practice has been freakishly Hard worked for this game. They badly want this win.

I think we've got a reasonable shot at a win, but our discipline on D this year stunk. EVERBODY got the corners on us and that's Tech's forte. I grew up with the option in Texas and watched it disappear as coaches taught players how to play their man, not the ball. LSU's scout team is running Tech's plays WITHOUT the ball to help teach our guys how to stay with their man and not go to the ball. That's the key to stopping the option. Tech is pretty one-dimensional. They'll do what got 'em there...I hope...FYI, you guys are going to run into a Texas team with a real attitude. Good luck.

I agree with the concerns expressed as to whether LSU will play smart "assignment defense" but I also worry about our tackling. It has been shoddy at times this year and against the option, you often can't gang tackle. It will be interesting, but I do like having 4 weeks to prepare for a team like GT.
