but what does this have to do about the movie Oppenheimer? I’ve heard multiple people say this, whenever the movie never made a point to show it as a race against nazis. It was about how the guy who built the bomb was a womanizing commie sympathizer (at best if not full on communist) and how some shitty politician tried to use him in a game of political chess during the height of the red scare.

they did.

they made a big point. they talked about it a lot. they introduced the nazis scientist working on it and how Oppenheimer met them before the war.

Oppenheimer talked about how important it was to beat them for jews.

and THEN it comes back around to be a point on how he never anticipated using it after Germany lost to beat Japan.

You said it wasn’t a great movie and the only explanation you gave was downplaying the importance of the plot.

In that context, explaining the importance of the plot is critical and essential in pointing out your folly.
