Still going to call it Tomb Raider though. There is no agenda here though

Bonus - Gamers are using AI to invent a better Lara . Next version will probably be a lesbian POC

British adventurer Lara Croft will transition from being a raider of tombs to a seeker of truth as Evil Hat Productions and Crystal Dynamics seek to redefine the Tomb Raider series in order to escape a history wounded by colonialism, according to an excerpt from the official Tomb Raider Shadows of Truth RPG rulebook.
"Raiding, as depicted in the original Tomb Raider games and stories, involves going to ancient tombs and historical sites of different civilisations and acquiring artefacts. It operates on the assumption of 'finders keepers' that grants raiders with the means and the drive to claim ownership of artefacts, regardless of whether they have any historical or cultural claim to the treasure."

As long as she continues to do whatever she does wearing her tight cleavage/arse revealing clothing she could be raiding Mar A Lago for all i care

This was actually released from CD earlier this year, everyone thinks this will be the new unified look of Lara
By the 3rd game in the reboot, I thought they already had it good to go though

For frick's sake, that's the character.
Have these people ever read a single piece of literature? It's like they're neutering everything. No wonder every character nowadays is one dimensional and sucks.

quote:Are you unfamiliar with the concept of character development? A young woman starting with a drive to acquire artifacts but, over the course of over a half dozen narratives, finds that has lost its luster and starts to give more mature thought to what she's doing is about as narratively standard as it comes. The idea that a character's personality and motivations should stay utterly static through decades of media is honestly a bit odd to me.

Changing the essence of the character isn't character development. Just because they put something next in line for the character doesn't make it development.
Did you think Luke Skywalker's storyline in the sequels was development?
Luke was the only person in the galaxy with hope that Anakin was still alive within Vader. But we got the great "character development" of him having a bad dream and immediately thinking about murdering his nephew. Where did all that hope go? That completely conflicted with who he was. But that's just character development.

But yeah, they're doing this for character development. I'm sure they won't give her a breast reduction and uglier face too. I doubt they understand the concept of a femme fatale.

The first 3 games of the reboot covered this really, and those started back in 2013 (pre-woke). Reboot Lara was not a collector of things, she was already becoming a seeker of truth. The tombs did nothing more than give her extra abilities, the only thing close was gathering items to make the ancient bow.
They basically already established this and actually did a good job of it. The games showed her being very respectful of the cultures they interacted with.
So why state this now, since they were already doing it? They missed their chance to get "WOKE" credit . These people are pathetic sometimes, trying to pander to people that will not even play their game.

Look at these evil colonizers

This is a character snippet from the booklet that comes with the TR tabletop game that got posted as some grand statement of change for the series.

One of those strong female leads that they want to ruin. I’m sure when it flops they will blame cis men.

You wish they would out a much effort into releasing a game without bugs and glitches as they do to fighting colonialism

Not anytime recently
I don’t need to to know that taking the “tomb raider” part of out Lara Croft: Tomb Raider changes enough to make it no longer the same character
