Train travel is 1/100th the hassle as going to an airport

This is absurd. The vast majority of airports in this country are a breeze to get through. My record down here is getting in an uber and being at my gate waiting to board in 27 minutes, and I live 12 miles from the airport. It is physically impossible for me to board any form of transportation faster.

The Simpsons nailed another one with their monorail episode years ago.

This is so ludicrous I don’t know where to begin

Thinking your experience is normal or average is peak OT

I don’t believe high speed rail will work in most of the US because of density issues, but this post betrays a fair amount of ignorance on the subject in a single point: that it’s normal for you that a major mode of transportation is 12 miles away from you. Pick any major European or NE US city with both an airport and a train station. Find both of their locations on Google maps. Once you do, one of the major advantages of rail travel will quickly become obvious.

Time to gate is only part of the story, outside of travel time the train experience is significantly easier.

I generally walk in the station 10-15 minutes before the train leaves, which is impossible to do when flying. Also never had to gate check a bag on the train.

And maybe the biggest advantage of the train, don't have wait for a flight attendant to tell me when I can get up to use the bathroom.

I know not all trains are equal, but Amtrak business class, Acela, and Brightline all are phenomenal travel experiences.
