fuzzy zoeller?
olazabal
goosen
love
singh
parnevik
etc
were all peers of tiger in 97 at the masters
tiger went 70-66-65-69 in 97 and overpowered the course
they changed the course because of him
to me #3 is hogan or jones
jones played 8 years and won 4 US, 3 British and 5 US amateurs against the best the game had to offer then he quit
hogan from ‘38-59 won 63 times, 9 majors, lost two years to WW2, survived a car wreck with a broken pelvis in ‘49 and came back on a historic run with the triple crown in ‘53. he famously hated the matchplay style of the pga championship and skipped it routinely
its tough to compare eras, I agree. all you can do is beat who they put in front of you. these two dominated everyone they played

I wouldn't argue either...golfers idolized both.
Both were savants.
But if you watch video of Tiger's swing, his Dad taught him Hogan's swing. The over the top club and lower body and legs driving the swing. Its amazing Ben Hogan could do it with busted legs. It's probably why Tiger had leg issues later. Hogan had the twisted dynamic force of nature swing before Tiger. Bobby Jones was great for his time but Hogan was a golf revolutionary.... To some degree..that students of the game copied.
