Bus isn’t really an option. Rent a car because if you stay in BR, you’ll need it.
If you’ve never been to New Orleans, I’d recommend spending the day there Friday, then drive up in the evening.
For the game on Saturday, you’ll want to be on campus early. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Get to campus early to park. Then explore. You’ll be invited to eat and drink.
