Yeah in the movie I feel like that situation was definitely resolved easier.
In the novel Tim (the grandson) is the one who eventually gets some stuff back online by just having some basic computer skills… but Nedry really screwed them because he actually planned on returning from the doc and fixing the system himself. If they didn’t have Ray Arnold they would have been insanely fricked.

Also Lex is 5 years old which makes more sense rewatching the scene when Tim’s arse could have easily handed Ellie the shot gun instead of just watching Lex
