Wrong take. When people ask for creativity they want to see the stories they know done right in film.

That’s not creativity. That’s copy and pasting.

Where's the Dick Grayson film? Hes way more interesting than the Joker.

There was just a 4 season Max show starring Dick Grayson. Nobody watched it because it was trash outside of the wheelchair fight.

John Stewart? Martian Manhunter would have made for a better off kilter film.

This looks dumb. What's the appeal here?

You’re about to get all of this with Gunn’s reboot of the DCEU. The appeal is we are getting another movie that isn’t beholden to a cinematic universe, which seems to be the only DC movies they are capable of making that aren’t dogshit and actually make money.

At the most basic level, sure. But they haven't been done "on film," so there is a difference.

Why do you think these movies are popular in the first place. It's not because Bruce Wayne is some new character we've never seen before.

Because it's Max and came out at Peak "too many streaming services time." And yes, TV is a perilous place for superheroes as getting the "big feel" of a comic book right on TV is hard to do.

Again, "the universe" and the interaction of characters is precisely why these characters have lasted 50+ years. It's not because we saw Joker once in a comic book and never again.

The Joker, removed from the universe, removed from who he is, is not an interesting character - and that's why the first movie isn't interesting and doesn't last. (Yes, he was "in" the universe, but not REALLY. It was a cheap mechanism)

It's just a movie about a crazy person. It's not THE Joker. Without the connection to a bigger story, to chasing Batman dozens of time, to the history of the character, it's literally not even the Joker.
