Wearing this one today:

No one is actively choosing a Tudor Sub or BB Chrono over a Rolex Sub or Daytona if they have the ability and means to do so.

I disagree with that. I've picked up two GMTs from AD's in the last 6 mos (126710BLNR Jubilee and 126711CHNR that is in the pic above), and have still have a Pelagos 39 on my list because I prefer it to the 6 digit subs. I have a 35 year old 16610, but would like to add a ceramic bezel diver and like the one line of red text on the P39 dial as a nod to its Rolex heritage. I'ts also a good chance I'll grab a BB Pro at some point in time because I don't like the 42 mm case of the 216570 or newest 226570 Expl 2.

Tudor is positioned totally differently in its current incarnation than what it was up until it went away in North America in the early 2000's.

Absolutely, especially in the enthusiast realm. There are definitely some pieces that I could see cross shopped, but if you want a modern (literally not aesthetically) smaller diver what are you going to buy from a Rolex catalogue? A Black Bay 54 (37mm) fits that bill.

First, oddly I was looking at your (what appears to be) a vintage MCM desk. My wife has one similar in her home office.

I agree with you. The post US reintroduction Tudor line stands on its own. Saying someone only buys Tudor because they can't manage a Rolex is simply wrong, maybe some but I don't think the majority and definitely not all. In the first 2 years of them coming back into the US I bought 2 Black Bays (the original burgundy and then the black dial) because I loved the gilt hands/dials and a Pelagos because it was something completely different and arguably a better tool watch than anything Rolex makes. At the time I had either 4 or 5 Rolex dive watches and it was definitely not an either or situation for me.

At this point it is a bit like telling someone they bought any watch priced below a similar Rolex because they can't afford the Rolex.
