Bluebonnets like dry, well-drained, higher pH soils--which is something not generally found in South Louisiana.

yep. you need shitty soil. There's a reason they grow so well in the Texas Hill Country.

It’s why in Texas you don’t see alot of bluebonnets in counties that grow a lot of crops.
