There are turkeys in Hawaii???
Some of the islands are covered with all sorts of exotic animals that were introduced and have gone feral.
They are really a problem, especially all the deer, goat and sheep varieties.
On the big island at the Army training center, our snipers used to get to train on the goat populations to help eradication efforts and get the additional training with live targets. But, tree huggers and state and wildlife agencies ruined that. Not sure if they have brought it back or not.

When did hunting Peacocks become a thing?
About two mornings after they begin making that God awful, ear splitting noise all day, everyday.

They had a peacock on the block I stayed at on Maui. Also saw some Mongoose on Maui over by Hana. Hawaii has all kinds of random animals dropped off/gifted over the years. Many true native animals and vegetation are decreasing and being eliminated through competition. The invasive have to be hunted/eradicated for any true native species to have a chance at future survival

No real damage to the eco system. More of a nuisance on the golf courses.

I haven't heard about this,
but I know someone who hunts swans.

I know a few ppl who have hunted swans in nc, not really on my bucket list. What is on my list is a crane hunt, i want to see them fold up over the decoys.

I know this is an endless argument, but Hawaii especially there is nothing native. It’s a lava rock in the middle of the ocean. There may have been firsts, but nothing native. Again, many places can say this I know.
The issue with Hawaii is its tropical and nothing really dies there so anything that ends up there for the most part thrives.

but it’s a Peacock, how much damage to the ecosystem are they doing compared to the other animals that have been introduced?
Possibly a lot, but I don't really know. But endemic bird species are dying off at a terrible rate in Hawaii. Mostly from disease. "Peacocks" are not rare at all. Peacock is the term for a male Peafowl, and I've seen a bunch of Indian Peafowl and Green Peafowl in the wild in India and Thailand. They are not rare at all. Red Jungle Fowl (chickens) too. Ring-necked Pheasant too. Outside of Asia - blast away IMO.

Nonsense. In the sense you are using this there is no native life on Earth. Which is idiotic.
