Least economically aware (and most predictable) response possible.

When labor costs go up as a result of an increased minimum wage, the cost of goods sold also goes up, thus reducing the buying power of those minimum wage workers.
Further, the MW increase hurts poor and middle class Americans most.
Big corporations can afford to a higher degree an increase in costs because they are often bolstered by public money (stock market) and significantly higher volumes. SMBs rely solely on their mom and pop shop to provide for their families. An increase in costs takes food directly off the table. Plus, the food and goods most affected by MW increases are those most consumed by the poor!!
This is a political play bent on false appeasement and a class warfare play designed to widen the wealth gap
