I think it has more to do with how you raise them and the dogs personality honestly.

It's hit or miss in my experience. Female lab did her own thing, didn't care about me much. Male lab was super attached to me, always stayed right with me, never had to be disciplined or yelled at, loved riding in the truck. Best dog I ever owned was Male Black Lab.
