Why do some people insist on having girl dogs exclusively?

Are they really better dogs and better pets than male dogs or is this just another old wives tale/bullshite myth that people believe in?
Is there adequate empirical evidence to show that female dogs are better or is it just small sample size that skews people’s views and causes them to perpetuate the stereotypes?

They don’t pee on every vertical surface they come in contact with

Yes.
Glad we could clear that up.

No empirical evidence to show, just personal experience. Female dogs have always been closer to me while male dogs have been closer to my wife. Different breeds, full blooded, mutts, didn't matter. Doesn't matter. It depends on what you're looking for in a dog. I'll get a female hunting dog that will stick with me out in the woods and pastures. I'll get a male dog to protect my family for when I'm gone. Just my personal experience.

Thanks. That’s what I was thinking.

Not necessarily better just easier to train in my opinion. They actually listen unlike the males I’ve had that act like teenage boys always trying to test you. The male I have now knows exactly what I’m telling him to do and just looks at me like you’re gonna have to make me. Which I do then he pouts. I guess if you cut em males may be easier to deal with. Best dogs I’ve had were females and I will never willingly have another male. The only reason I have this one is my last female had one small litter of all males so I didn’t have much choice.

They don’t mark territory all over furniture

You have had some questionable threads lately

I have always preferred females for my hunting dogs, they just seem more focused and loyal to me. For some reason female dogs seem to respect human males way more than females, it pisses my wife and daughter off. Male dogs can be more driven but they also tend to be a little more wild and easily distracted.
Again, this is just my personal experience. I am sure other posters here will say the opposite.

They don't piss all over the house and better behaved usually.

I have a mutt that will stick right by my leg and not go after anything unless I tell her to. I take her everywhere with me, to work, hunting, to friends houses, to parties. At the same time, we have a 100+ lbs German Shepherd that would give his life protecting my wife and daughter. After a couple of years, you get to know the dog. We've had everything from Siberian huskies to corgies to pits. My wife picked up a catahoula on the side of the road, and she's the only female that was glued to my wife the way male dogs have been. That Shepherd would rip my face off if he thought I was hurting my wife or daughter, and I feed that boy.
The right dog finds you at the right time.

I intentionally don't get protection dogs neutered because I want as much testosterone in those veins as I can get. I don't mind if I get challenged or bit every now and then. I look at like if he'll do that with me, what will he do to a stranger? Exactly what I want/need him to do. I'd rather train/corral that than neuter it.

We've had three female labs and four male labs. There's a difference, but it's slight.

Dig back through my post history enough, and you'll find a story about a nurse that cared for her dog a little too much. Working a shift in a hospital one night and heard waaaaaaayyyy too much.

Our male dog is pathologically attached to my wife.
