I just picked up son & family and found it annoying and confusing. But, maybe better if people had been informed!

Curbside pickup at doors 9, 10 & 11. Now mean immediate loading only...no people waiting at the curb. You can no longer pull to the curb and wait.

Your options are to circle endlessly or use the cell-phone lot to wait.

Basically, I like the ideal of waiting for the cell phone call. But, MSY needs to reach out and explain the logic.

One cop/security officer gave bad instructions. Another gave correct instructions... politely.

Whatever...minimal annoyance...NOLA politeness. Son & family home for Easter.

I tell them to go go Departures instead. Way easier.

I've dropped off and picked up from MSY a dozen times now. The first time was a learning experience. After that, I used the cell phone lot with no issue. FYI, there's a bathroom in the lot which comes in handy.

My only complaint is they designed that new terminal and the drop off and pickup is so short...it seems like they could have made it a little longer to make it easier.

Also, I've learned you can park in the short term garage and it's free for the first 30 minutes (maybe an hour, I can't remember for sure). So if you want to park and meet someone at baggage claim, you can do it for free. Just don't park until they say they are at baggage claim. And there is a bathroom right inside the door as well that also comes in handy.

I had a family member get re-routed to the Lafayette airport due to delays. He arrived at midnight. I pull up to the pickup at the Lafayette airport at midnight and as you expect, I'm literally the only single car there. The second I stopped, a cop/guard came straight to me and told me I couldn't wait there.

I had to drive around and I just stopped in the road 100 yards away in eye-sight of the terminal and waited 5 minutes in the road.

I understand the policy at airports, but I figured the only car at Lafayette at midnight...well, you know.

It's disappointing. They build a brand new airport, with a blank piece of paper, and could have done it so right, but they did it wrong. The pickup area is a cluster, almost as bad as the old airport.

All they had to do was extend it another 50 yards, but no, they did not. The good news is that they still can, there is plenty of room to extend it.
