The great irony here, is how emphatically the Reverend King would be opposed to observing him instead of observing the Crucifixion.

I never met the guy, but in my opinion, he would be really, really against it.

Not me. Of course, I own the company so there is that little technicality.

Besides, have a paid holiday celebrating the Savior of humanity or some dude who had extramarital affairs with four dozen women??

Not I, we got both and even get Juneteenth. I still have no clue what that day is for, but I will gladly take it off.

Many years ago, in Seattle, my employer thought they were being brave and amazing by offering MLK day as a holiday, before the state had adopted it or renamed King county after him.. etc etc.

Did we get an extra day? Nope. They took away a day of Christmas break. I pleaded with HR to make it a flex holiday so those of that preferred to travel home for the holidays could have the time. Nope. In fact, they physically LOCKED the building to prevent people from coming in because they realized no one gave a shite about MLK in our 2,000 person company where we had maybe 5 black folks total, and those were more likely to have photos of Steve Urkel on their wall than MLK.

We had "Juneteenf" added last year, another holiday I couldn't give a half a shiat about, but at least they didn't take away anything to add it. I guess I'll take a random day off in June. We do still get Good Friday, which is nice.

MLK shouldn’t be a holiday, period.

I am not sure why two days before Easter is a holiday. December 23rd isn’t a holiday either
