God gave us free will.
I imagine he expects you to separate yourself, not try to change the world by legislation.

This will not happen.
You're not very good at this either.

Private behavior I agree, but this topic is about the public sphere.

That's a moral value that we've codified. It's not only ok to use morality for the basis of laws, it's a necessary ingredient.

This isn't a Biblical view at all.
Also, this thread on the OT seems relevant to this discussion.

I have never met a gay man that was not feminine, did not believe that he was woman, dressed drag etc… One of my coworkers thought he had a period every month.
Seriously? I know more gay people that honestly appear to be hetero than flamboyant ones. Actually the most gay looking person I knew was a lesbian who often asked where I got my shirts and had shorter hair than me... even still that was the most outlandish thing about her. She never made it her whole personality... turns out she preferred they/them..I worked with her...them...whatever for a year and never knew cause she didn't feel the need to be obnoxious about it....she just went with whatever. Point is, there ARE gay people who just want to be gay and live their life without undue attention....and I feel for them with this new wave of LOOK AT ME gays

Well stated.

There are lots of conservative gay people.
The bothersome thing in this thread is conservatives should support marriage and families, not promote promiscuity.

I never supported gay marriage but I was pretty "whatever" about the idea of civil unions from a more classically liberal/libertarian perspective. Idea being to extend rights to any couple without changing definitions, etc.
I disagree with that position now, although not all that strongly, because I've grown more comfortable with government picking winners and losers and social priorities. While I recognize the slippery slope idea socially I don't think it's really a causation type of thing. The public's willingness to tolerate it, perhaps.
Incentivizing M+F+children = family, and a family as the bedrock unit for American society, is something I believe in. Accordingly, I don't think government recognition of something outside that paradigm is constructive.

Never agreed with it and never will. It’s gross and flat out wrong! Said it was a mistake from the start because we’d end up exactly where we are now with that garbage.

I don't fear them, I just don't condone or appreciate other people openly sinning.
I'd feel the same way if I was witnessing someone commiting a crime.
Plus they're generally just vile.

quote:I have no problem with people cohabitating with someone of the same sex, but don't call it "Marriage". That label dating back centuries has already been taken and burned into the psyches of entire cultures for generations. Attempts to do so are considered "squatting" on the concept of traditional marriage - between a man and woman, and are akin to hijacking morality - not unlike "Stolen Valor". Call it whatever you like, but not marriage. It's moral piracy.

I don’t blame gay people or gay marriage for anything you mentioned. I know several gay couples afraid to speak out, but feel like their movement of marriage equality, which spanned over several decades, was “hijacked” by a bunch of posers playing make believe seemingly overnight. Once gay people had the right to get married, we didn’t hear a ton from THEM as a group. Gay people should have never been lumped in with trans people because they’re completely different. Trans people are a different animal. They live in a fantasy world, they try to influence your kids to think gender is arbitrary, and they call anyone a bigot who doesn’t want to humor their delusions. Gay people were mostly worried about themselves. Trans people want everyone involved. Kids weren’t going home and saying “daddy I think I’m gay” on a constant basis after gay marriage, but now they’re doing it with “non binary” and “trans” left and right.
It wasn’t until the trans people “forced themselves in” that we started seeing “she/her” on job applications/social media bios, started seeing special sections at Target, proposed legislation in Canada forcing speech on pronouns (forced speech by legislation is infinitely more dangerous than prohibited speech and gay people never did that shite), unisex bathrooms, men in women’s sports… the mentally ill trans community is to blame for all this. ALL of it.
And for some reason we allowed them to be lumped in with gay people who never created these kinds of problems.

I know this won't be a popular opinion on this board, but let the downvotes rain down.... gays can get married and build strong families. I also work with a gay man who aside from a slight gay lisp isn't flamboyant and certainly isn't in your face about his sexuality is married and he and his husband adopted. Text book definitions of hard working family men.
Are there gay or trans pervs who shouldn't be allowed within 500 yds of a school zone...for sure. frick trannies in womens sports and locker rooms, frick drag queen story time and frick liberal teachers trying to push gay sex ed in kindergarten... but the slippery slope paint with a broad brush thing just isn't true. Gay people can and do exist outside of that bullshite and in most cases hate it more than we do.

Then their first step should be distancing themselves from the rest of the LGBTQ...XYZ freaks. They don't seem to do that, because whenever you see footage from one of these gay pride parade freak shows they're all together.
Until they do that, they'll continue to be looked upon as freakish.

The slippery slope part is demonstrably true, and it was predicted by plenty of people.
Agree on the broad brush part.
