Advice on buying something on ebay

My wife really likes a certain type of small ramekin and Amazon doesn't carry them anymore. They are available on ebay at a good price but I have never bought anything from that site before. I am not entirely comfortable giving out a credit care number to some anonymous guy on the internet. Is this safe? Is there anything I should watch out for?
Thanks in advance for the assistance.

I buy things on eBay regularly. Waiting on some used books to be delivered currently.

use Pay Pal if concerned about CC, also look at the seller's history & feedback

Use a PayPal account. eBay is a safe place to shop. The interface keeps your financial information away from the sellers.

Thanks all. I appreciate the advice.

It's no different than buying on Amazon. You aren't giving the seller your credit card information. You pay Ebay and Ebay pays them.

What they said about Paypal. If in doubt use that.
But you're confused about how credit cards are processed. That seller will never see the first digit of your credit card. That's all handled by the processor Ebay uses. It's all encrypted. Even if you had that information in front of you, you couldn't crack it.

you're not giving you credit card number to a random seller, the payments are all through ebay... also you realize 99% of the things sold on amazon are sold by random sellers not amazon themselves

Link the item here and we can tell you if anything is suspicious.

Counterfeits are the primary concern, not financial information being stolen.

i've sold on eBay for many years and have never seen a customer's credit card info. Ebay itself manages the payments just like Amazon would

i always travel to the We Sell Your Stuff on Ebay Store to check out the items before proceeding to purchase it online.
