Did they have something to keep them busy or did they lay around on their asses? My guess is that they found something purposeful to occupy their time, even if it wasn't for pay. If not, they must have won the genetic lottery.

Step dad and my mom traveled a lot by motorhome with their dogs, and he also volunteered a lot at Auburn with their engineering programs, using his vast connections in the aerospace and defense contracting days to help raise money for projects and stuff like that. He did come from a genetic long life family. His mother lived to 103.

My dad of course worked till 80 but was an active runner and weightlifter. Parkinson's kicked in about 82 and was bedridden for the last 2.5 years, but he was born with the stubborn lottery. LOL
