There’s only one thing red-blooded boomer Americans love more than the U-S-of-A and that is the nation of Israel. Given a hypothetical scenario of having all their descendants being mixed race deracinated individuals while America implodes under the rule of a literal kakistocracy if the nation of Israel survives and flourishes then they’ll take that trade every day of the fricking week.
It’s depressing as frick.

1. That hypothetical is not relevant to the discussion of why we cheer for Israel
2. The genesis of modern Israel is very similar to our nation and that is a big part of why we cheer for them. They fought quite a few wars against their neighbors with overwhelmingly bad odds and little foreign support. Britain and France actively blocked weapons shipments. At the time we were not sending them much, certainly not giant shipments of fighters and missiles. And yet they won against Soviet-backed Egypt, plus Jordan and Syria.
3. They were always willing to take on a Soviet proxy state that had far more weapons and soldiers.

Now now, tell us where you were touched

Really is astonishing how people can't, or refuse to, understand how Israel is different than any other nation in the world to us. It's the Holy Land. Something that our Euro/American ancestors have been defending for centuries. So to Christians, having Jews in charge, though maybe not perfect, is better than the alternative.
Like it or not, doesn't matter, it's engrained in our cultural fabric.
(Now if you are a non-Euro descendant American, then that will make more sense, but doesn't change the "why.")
