Essentially, or at least a clear downgrade in talent. Most are looking to trade a quarter for dimes and nickels. Not that they wouldn't do a quarter for quarter swap if a cheaper/better fitting quarter were available. They are just so concerned about locking into this core and not being able to afford a quality bench that they choose flexibility over high end talent in return.

That's not the only option though. As much as I think CJ has done for this team, with his age and contract he has always seemed like the logical choice to move to me when money gets tight. With Trey and Hawkins, his role will be a lot easier to replace long term.
