I think for starters you have to commit the resources needed to succeed. Financial, Marketing, everything.
Then you have to play an exciting style. Look at what Alabama and Auburn do. Run up and down the floor, shoot a lot of 3’s, press, put a lot of points in the board.
I use Bama and Auburn because those are football first schools, with nowhere near the history we have here. If those schools can do it, so can we.
Then I think you need a charismatic coach, someone who grabs people’s attention.
Look at Mulkey outfits, that’s by design, keeps the program in the spotlight.
When Bruce Pearl got to Auburn, he went shirtless and chest painted in the student section for a football game .
This endears him to those students and then they start packing the arena.
Building the new arena.
This brings immediate excitement, everyone wants to see the shiny new toy.
Lastly once you get them in the building, you have to perform and win.

Bruce Pearl's first three years at Auburn which did not begin with the threat of draconian sanctions hanging over the program:
2014–15 Auburn 15–20 4–14 13th
2015–16 Auburn 11–20 5–13 13th
2016–17 Auburn 6–14** 0–11** 11th

Pearl is the model for what we need. Similar to Dale Brown in being a big personality that demands attention. Has an incredible basketball mind.
When we hired Johnny Jones, he was in the middle of his 5-year show-cause. We could have hired him, but it would have been really painful for us to do so.
Auburn was the beneficiary of good timing as he only had months left before he could recruit.
Wished it wasn't that way: he would have absolutely come here under better timing for us.
