I think AZ has 10% of the electorate that have John McCain portraits in their foyers. Most of these people can hold their nose and vote for Trump because of the alternative. Half of them probably say, I'm already voting for Trump so that's enough. I'm going to vote against Lake.
That's my theory. It may be dumb...but that's it.

Towards the end of his life, McCain was not liked/well thought of by Arizona Republicans. He was more popular with Democrats and the polls showed that. It wasn't by a sliver, either.
So, you might be right but it would be the foyers of Democrat households.
