Neither Trey or CJ are good defenders but at least Trey is long. Spacing wise, I'd say they're about equal.

This is what it ultimately comes down to. Come the playoffs, the smart teams will attack CJ (And to a lesser extent, Jonas) in the P&R mercilessly. There's a lot left to be desired when you watch Trey on defense, but the one thing he has is incredible height and length.

A closing 5 of Zion, Nance, BI, Trey, and Herb is ridiculously long and better suited to Willie's defensive schemes of packing the driving lanes, forcing the kick out, and hard recover to shooters.

Also, come clutch time, the sets will start out either in Zion or BI's hands. Because of this, CJ is relegated to being a spot up guy for most of the possession and that really negates his play making ability. In that case, I would rather have Trey in as a pure spot up deadeye.

The way Trey is playing, I'm not saying it's crazy to prefer Trey in a spot up role, but for the season on spot up 3s:

CJ - 40.5%
Trey - 36.5%

Though CJ has struggled a lot over the past month or so while Trey is going off.

I would like to see CJ with the second unit. I think he could take control of that second unit and be a spark off the bench.
