I think the level matters. A literal riot outside of the capitol with a specific purpose of threatening Pence to twirl his moustache is a bit different than pretty much anything you can use as an example.

You already lost this war decades ago. Conservatives invested in the wrong institutions and are paying the price today. You cannot win with brute force and have to be smarter. January 6 was the literal opposite of being smarter in every single way.

It was completely symbolic of the Trump movement trying to turn the Republican party into the lower class party of dumb, angry people. You want to make that what a "real conservative it" then you have to live with the choice (like living with the choices of investing in the wrong institutions).
