On average, if you are making 85k you can't comfortably afford a 58k truck. That's a very unwise financial choice for 85% of people in that income bracket at least

Not anymore. Maybe a used Colorado. A new work truck is 36k.
I paid 32k for a crew cab XLT F150 in 2017. That truck is 56k or so now.
10k off MSRP 6-7 years ago was the norm, but it isn't now.

You're living in the past. The average new vehicle price in 2024 is almost $49,000.
