Boomer retirees from NJ/NYC are moving to Charleston and Hilton Head Island and buying homes in cash for $100,000 or $200,000 more than what the asking price is. As a result, the market gets fricked up. Hilton Head Island’s median home price went up 8.3% in one month this year.
It happened with Florida and it will happen with the Carolinas. Any place that’s worth a shite, people from the Northeast will move there and exploit it. Then they tell their friends and family back home about how good it is, and then word gets around to communities. As a result, more people move in droves.

It was bad enough when they destroyed the low country but the bastards have discovered the midlands and the upstate. It is worse than the Yankees in south Florida also, at least they had the money to make it to lands end. The invaders of South Carolina were low wage employees in New Jersey and act like such when they get to North Augusta. Charleston was ruined years ago but Aiken and Greenville and points in between are not far behind.
