If the same issue I have periodically, simply unplug the TV for a few minutes. Resets the flux capacitor or something.

Capacitors are designed to retain a charge, of varying amounts. Vendors will tell you leave stuff unplugged for 5-10 minutes to allow that charge to dissipate, which then clears non persistent memory, and "reboots" your device. Depending on the board designer, the amount of time may be 5 seconds, or five minutes needed.

With tube TVs that required a lot of power, plenty of people electrocuted themselves by unplugging the TV, and then sticking screwdrivers in it, which discharged the capacitor(s) and shocked the *f* out of them. But you didn't ask about any of the background
