This Roman farmer in Caesar’s day grew an enormous berry. Gigantic. Stupendous!

So much so he displayed the berry in his locked barn and charged a penny for individuals to view the berry, praise it, and marvel at its magnificence, under his watchful eye. At night he locked his barn doors and counted the day’s coins.

On the 15th of March, after he’d locked up, finished counting his money, and going to bed-he heard noise from inside his barn.
The farmer was certain the berry’s fame, praised all throughout Rome, and the coin he was bringing in hand over fist made his berry a ripe target for someone to steal.

He had anticipated this and had a lamp lit and a pitchfork to fend off any one who intended to steal his berry.

He unlocked his barn, threw open the doors and shining the lamp, brandishing his pitchfork caught the thief in the act…

Before he could skewer the criminal the thief held his hand out in supplication and cried out…

“Dear farmer, do not kill me for you have mistaken my actions…

I’m not come to seize the berry, but to praise it!”
