Something has been lost on getting new content when we suddenly have all of popular content ever made, available at an instant on demand.

It’s a concept some call The Slow Cancellation of the Future.
A new song released tomorrow to streaming platforms must compete for listens against every song ever recorded. That’s a steep hill to climb for new artists trying to gain traction.
Back in the day, past music and movies faded away to make room for new things. That doesn’t happen in the internet age. It’s just as easy to binge watch Seinfeld or The Simpsons as it is The Bear or Succession.

I've long thought that it can't be good for people to have so much on demand like it is now. There's hardly any waiting for things, people are missing the anticipation of waiting until next week to see their favorite show.
Seems like that would screw with people's internal rewards system. The social aspect has also been screwed with as people watch whenever they feel like it instead of together at the same time. Sports is the exception to this, maybe that's why they're so popular. Altogether it cheapens the intrinsic value of content, leading to an alienated, anomic, and vapid existence void of meaning.
