re: Why do so many modern young women intentionally make themselves less attractive?

I believe it’s a psychological thing.
There is a sizeable cohort of American women who are basically incapable of loving themselves.
They exhibit narcissistic tendencies, but it’s not a traditional narcissist “I’m so f’in great look at me!” thing.
It’s like they don’t love themselves so they pleasure seek via social media, dopamine response (men are guilty of this too) and via social causes to try to fill the void.
They loathe themselves and their close friends but believe themselves incapable of fixing their condition so they blame it on the patriarchy, politics, their childhood, their spouse, etc. rather than have to accept any ownership of their condition or responsibility for improving it.
I don’t mean to say they didn’t have bad experiences, but as soon as you believe you are hopelessly broken due to external trauma you forsake any path to fixing it in favor of permanent victimhood.
But if you are incapable of loving yourself how can you love someone or anything else? So they take it out on whoever is around them in a myriad of ways in a subconscious attempt to bring them down to their level of suffering.
They are victims but become antagonists in their anger.
Doubt me? Watch how an unhappy woman responds to a woman in her social group showing signs of joy. Its an instant attempt to subvert that joy rather than to try to elevate her own situation.

quote:I like to bitch about women as much as any guy that's dealt with their shite for 45 years but you've got your head in the sand and if you think the slobbish/lazy personal aesthetic is anywhere close to exclusive to women then you need to take a look around.

Our society, as a whole, started shite-canning pride in appearance by the late 60's, and totally gave up over the past 30 years or so.
I don't disagree with your assessment of modern women, but the same must hold true for men, or else, what's their excuse to be out here looking like shite?
