Yeah, I bought an EV about two or three months ago, and the range issue is worse than they say. Plus it was shockingly expensive even with the dealer subsidy. They are at least a decade away from being a reasonable alternative for ICE vehicles. I like mine because I’ll never have to charge it away from home and I have garage 240 volt 50 amp receptacles.

They give the range based on ideal temperatures and using 100% of the charge. But this is impractical. You should not charge above 80% very often because it eats away at battery life, and you are less likely to push near 0% because of anxiety about where a recharge can be had. My car lists a 290 mile range, but I won’t go below 15% charge and I’m starting at 80%. So my range is about 195 miles, and that’s before outside temperatures are considered.
