Why Democrats want open borders is an easy question. Democrats want more non-white voters because white voters don’t like them.
The interesting question is why do Republican politicians want open borders???
The answers is Republican politicians want to keep wages down to benefit American Businesses.

It’s actually not the question but for sake of discussion, there is an element on the Republican side that wants illegal immigration to keep labor costs down. Large agriculture has always wanted cheaper labor than required legally.
The way to fix that is through the work visa program which is rigged poorly to discourage utilizing the system.
