Looking to find a modem/router that would replace the existing Cox one that's in my home now so I don't have to keep paying month for the box. We have their 250 Mbps plan and run as a semi-smart home. Smart lighting, home security, door bell and security camera, Xbox (hardwired), iPad, and 2 TVs always connected. Generally do not have connectivity issues, but again I'm looking to replace the current hardware if there's something out there I can use to future proof my home a bit and not have to spend the extra $10+ / month if I'm able to save money down the road.

My next router will be a Synology, but it's probably overkill for you. The interface is very nice thought.

LINK / I have a refurbished AX6000, and it's perfectly sufficient, and was in a 5000 sq foot house. You can use the emulator (at least for TP LINK) to look at how the interface works, etc.

I never buy current gen products, your devices probably don't support them anyway, so you can save money that way.

If you post the specific model of your modem, we can tell you how to buy one to replace the rental. I'm essentially looking for what version of DOCSIS it supports. At 250Mbps, you can probably get a cheap arse modem for under $60.

I have a Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 and it's been overkill for our family needs.
