This is sad.
Guy wasted his life, for absolutely nothing.
A man who dies to save another man's freedom has not died for nothing. This man is a true hero.

My wife's family lives in Ukraine. There was nothing wrong with the life they've had so far other than a corrupt government that didn't really impact them that much. Sure infrastructure issues, brown outs, etc. are the norm. They never professed fear of Russia or the "evil" Putin.
They are Russian speaking people (they don't speak Ukrainian) but have had no problem living amongst the native Ukrainians since the late 1990s.
The problems began about 10 years ago with rising nationalism, and in particular, neo Nazi "Bandaras".
It became no longer safe to speak Russian or identify as Russian. It was especially hard in areas of Eastern Ukraine closer to the border with Russia. Mayors of certain towns outlawed the speaking of Russian language. It became very hard for Russian people in Ukraine. And it's no very small minority of the population. In fact, most of Eastern Ukraine, where the war is being waged, are full of Russian loyalists.
But I digress, all of these activities mysteriously coincide with the U.S. State department and CIA's involvement in Ukraine. The overthrow of the President, the Maidan Revolution. It's well documented and even one of your "trusted" news sources, NYT, points it out. Notice I said yours and not mine?
Long story short, he died for absolutely nothing. Being from Seattle, he probably believed there are 250 + everyday genders and men could birth children.
