No wheel, no draft animals, no metallurgy of bronze (exception was the Inca whom had developed it recently), let alone iron. No gunpowder, no paper, no ability to construct ocean-going ships, no crop rotation…
Slavery, human sacrifice, cannibalism..

You’re saying that because they didn’t have wheels, they didn’t need them.
Basic wheelbarrows would actually have revolutionized indo-american society by greatly increasing the amount of materials or goods a single worker could carry. However, absent draft animals to pull carts and wagons, it could only change society so much. The inability for meso-american tribes to transport more goods than a single human could physically carry overland significantly stunted their development.

Someone smarter than me explain how he knew from an almanac that there would be a visible total lunar eclipse over Jamaica?
Someone on that boat must have been smart as hell.
I’m sure it could be figured out technically, but the evil genius plan seems suspect.
Seems like he probably just took advantage of the lunar eclipse when it happened.

Stars were a major way seafarers navigated. They had special tools for calculating longitude and latitude, and tracking astronomical events was important. It was a super crafty move, but definitely not outside the capabilities of the people on that expedition at the time.
