New Irons

It’s not wanting to frick them up bc they are all shiny and new. So, you don’t hit down on them like you should.

Then, you give in and start puring them. That wear off after a while and it’s time to shop for new ones. It’s a sick and vicious cycle my friend.

The last time I was fitted was years ago. I'd already purchased the iron set, just wanted to get them honed in for my height and swing. Back in those days, and perhaps now, they would put some sort of contact tape on the bottom of the club to determine where you make contact with the turf. Man, I was grooving absolutely everything that day...as if there were zero adjustments to be made.

Days later, and having thought about it more, I think it was as simple as me consciously trying to strike down on the ball to ensure the tape got a good mark on it. Got the clubs back, that swing thought never crossed my mind again, and my iron strikes were all over the place again.
