Id really like to hear you explain this notion because Ive tried but really cant sort out inherent rights or ...further objective morality without invoking a higher power.

I'm a lifelong Catholic, but I'm far from super religious. I regularly attend church, but I have my doubts about God and religion like a lot of people do. I'm not proud of it, but that's my journey with religion.
But even in my most non-believer moments, I never have doubts about morality or humanity. There are religious people who are evil and non-believers who are good and moral.
I don't really see the two as connected.
