Just about everything you said was spot on 
ETA: Ramin Djawadi is the real MVP though. No matter how stupid the writing, at least the music was always perfect

I will defend the Battle of Winterfell though, I'm sorry, that was a bad arse battle outside of completely wasting her Khalasar on a dumb charge into the night. It was a gritty, dirty, smokey battle and needed to be dark.

, I guess it pushed the envelope on what your tv could show. Wasting the Dothraki was so, so stupid. I don't mind them being out there on the field, but frick- use some tactics. On horseback, you're faster than the dead. Just keep harrying the edges, and peel back off. They're not heavy cavalry, they aren't made to run through a pack of soldiers.
