I currently have a medium Big Green Egg. I got it used for $150 at the beginning of Covid and it was the best money I’ve ever spent. Wife and I are now in a house with a much larger deck. We often have family coming over and need something larger to cook on. I’d like an XL Big Green Egg but have looked at Kamado Joe. Any really difference between the two in terms of quality? BGE has been good to me but Kamado Joe seems to offer better value. Just want to make sure Kamado Joes value isn’t to good to be true.

Absolutely zero difference in quality and Komado Joe's are cheaper and better equipped with accessories, right out of the box. They have a much better designed firebox too.

You can get a large, well equipped Komado Joe at Lowes for instance for 799.

Compared to the KJ, a BGE is a rip off man. It really is.

It's been like 6 or 7 years since I got my large BGE. The price difference was basically that I could get the KJ with a stand and flip up side tables for the price of getting just the BGE. I have mine in a table I built, so I didn't really care that much.

What I do like is that while I built my table, my local Ace Hardware loaned me the stand to use, then came pick up the stand and helped install the BGE in my table. And I had a firebox with a hairline crack, and even though it didn't really mess anything up, I just took a picture and next time I was by Ace, I showed it to them and they gave me a brand new one. No questions asked. The service and lifetime warranty seem to be worth it so far.
