Probably not wise to go on IG and talk about an impending murder trial

Yeah it's not wise if you are culpable in some way. If you are truly innocent, then you should scream it loudly and publicly, every single chance you get. Your reputation and football career does not hinge on the legal burden of proof in a criminal case. It hinges on whether the public believes that you were involved in wrongdoing that resulted in a murder.

If not, then tell everyone every chance you get. Say it to the DA's office when you're interviewed. When you're deposed prior to trial, say it again. And if the DA doesn't drop the charges or plead you down to a traffic ticket, then say it again at trial.

Don't know why you're being downvoted. I'm sure he's talked to a lawyer. I'm also sure he was told, quite explicitly, NOT to do this exact thing.

FWIW, my opinion of him is more favorable after reading this statement, and I am one of his peers, and they are the ones who will be deciding whether or not to indict him.

Totally disagree since it depends on the situation. If he is innocent, he can definitely force the hand of the authorities but going public/put on the pressure. IMO, not a bad strategy to basically say, "show some evidence or publicly apologize and drop the charges."
