re: Why do dealers make car buying so difficult

I only talked about the terrible practices of the mostly LA bmw dealers in this thread, but we had even worse problems with Chevy dealers across Texas and LA. More than once we had deposits down on a Tahoe my husband needed for work and the vehicle either “never came in”, “has no expected date of arrival”, or “sorry my manager sold it”. The manager sold it schtick happened after they called and said come and pick it up and the 1 hour drive to dealer. Left terrible reviews but not much else we could do since they simply refund your deposit. It was Demontrond down south of Houston. This was at the time some dealers were adding 10k onto the msrp. I don’t know how many times I told some manager all they were doing was ending their own damned business with these shitty practices.

It probably helped that my delivery dealer for 3+ vehicles lived 150 yards away, he wasn't escaping any negative feedback. He actually cut me a check same day, when some delivery idiot added BS I didn't order to the tab upon delivery.
I think LA dealers are worse than most because of the same mentality that keeps MBAs working at Chili's in Lafayette, because they "can't" move out of state. Blind, bullshite family loyalty. Louisianans will eat it and say shite like, "that's where daddy bought all his cars," whereas people in a place from Houston (nobody is from here, it seems) have very little tolerance for that BS.
