Fishing in and around Disney

I'm going for a work trip and I've always wanted to take one of the Bass fishing tours that Disney offers. I'm by myself and the only thing they offer in the middle of the day, which I will either be at work or an airplane.
They do have some fishing at Port Orleans and Fort Wilderness. Has anyone fished there before? Or suggest anywhere else? It doesn't have to be Disney, just in Orlando.
Thanks

Lake Toho. There is a fishing pier at Brinson Park. Supposedly there is one in Kissimmee at Lakefront Park also.
If you want to drive a little out of the city you can hit up Chain of Lakes. Tons of places to fish, but much better with a boat.
Bill Frederick Park used to rent row boats in the morning. They are relatively cheap (like $50). Not sure if they still do that or not.
Starke Lake is another good one to check out.

I've never taken one of the trips.
But, honestly, you can catch good fish, even some peacocks, in almost any canal or body of water from Orlando south to homestead.

Doubt this guy is bringing his fishing pole on his business trip. Sounds like he is looking for some sort of Disney guide.

I took one out of port orleans. It was fun and I caught an 8+ but you should know it’s free lining shiners. Maybe you have the option but I don’t remember being given it.

That would be really cool.

Peacock bass aren't any further north then west palm on the east and Fort myers on the west. Talked to multiple tackle shops when we stayed near tampa. We drove down to area south of Fort myers to catch them.
Buddy did the Disney thing once. Caught some nice fish, not the 8lbs reported above, but a couple around 5 lbs. They used live bait also.

I fished out of the Wilderness Lodge a few years ago. Rented a pontoon with a “guide.” Basically, he just tied the boat to the docks at the Polynesian and Grand Floridian docks. Like the poster above stated, we just free lined shiners the whole time. Was a pretty neat experience with the family though. Between me, my wife and daughter, we probably caught around 30 bass. 1 was about 5 lbs, almost all others were between 12-16 inches. This was more the family excursion, but they do have bass boat trips for 1 or 2 people I believe.

Some of the biggest bass I’ve ever seen were around the docks at Port Orleans. Kids were throw fish food from the dispenser and the bass were in the shade under the docks and were just giants… of course this was many years ago and I didn’t think they allowed fishing by the boat shuttles

I lived in Miami for the last 2.5 years.
I was catching them as far north as Palm Bay, but yes, much more dense further south.

We go to Disney quite regularly. Have for years. I've never thought about fishing there.
I feel like I've wasted so many opportunities.
I will correct that in the future

No you will not. I lived in West Palm and we did not have them. You need to go further South.

They only allow cane pole fishing at Port Orleans. I’ve seen some huge bass hanging around the Epcot lake by the Mexico pavilion too. One was guaranteed double digits.

The intent was "maybe", and that there isn't a bad fishing hole almost anywhere south of Orlando.
As I said, I've caught them as far north as Palm Bay.
They are certainly in West Palm. I lived in Miramar, they are everywhere that far south.
But, like Jurassic Park taught, life finds a way. Things often end up where they aren't supposed to be.
First Peacock I ever caught was in Oahu in a shite drainage pond.

Bunches of places to fish and they’re loaded with aggressive 1-3 pound largemouth. Loads of guides in the area. Pretty cheap compared to most guided trips.

Flat lining shiners is the bomb. I like catching fish, not perfecting my casting and retrieving. They’re a bunch of guides in the area who mostly shiner fish because their business is based on folks catching fish, especially a fish of a lifetime.

In 1974 my dad surprised the family with a trip to Disney. I was 8. The first day we took the boat from the parking lot and, being infatuated with boats and fishing I stayed on the deck of the ferry watching for fish. When we got to the dock there were big old titty bream EVERYWHERE. They had to drag me away. The next day my dad and I fished that lake instead of going in the park. We caught hundreds of bream and yearling bass. Every once in a while someone told us we weren’t supposed to fish but they’d also ask if we were catching any and then leave us alone. The only fun I ever had at Disney.

We did in 2018. Fished w Capt Dave. You can see the Grand Floridian in the background. Caught lots of fish. No giants. But quality fish and lots of them.
I’d have no problem doing it again.

Cool picture and nice catch, but that’s not the GF. That’s the Dolphin and Yacht/Beach Club resorts in the background.

lol. You are right. But I can’t help but laugh that the OB is having an argument over which Disney hotel it is
ETA: as for the guy that posted it that’s a pretty sweet pick.
