So based on all of that and the energy rated HVAC, tankless WH, etc. why is my energy bill higher than it’s ever been?

It’s ALMOST like it’s all a bunch of bullshite.

You will need to look at your kWh used and your price per kWh. Could be your price per kWh is higher than before, or like most of us you keep adding new devices to your home without realizing the impact on your total usage. Or, more likely, a combination of the two.

The tankless water heater probably doesn't save much if anything (and it might cost you more). High efficiency hvac does save energy but it's harder to notice given seasonal and annual variations.

Tell you what, get yourself an innefficient hvac system and switch back to incandescent bulbs and let me know how you like it.
