Short answer:

Louisiana doesn’t care about basketball. It’s all football and baseball. Plain and simple.

States like Kansas, North Carolina and Kentucky are the opposite. They are all in on hoops and football comes second.

It’s just the way it is. It starts with the kids at a young age, they’re all steered toward football and any developmental basketball tends to be much less of a priority as a whole.

Look at the state of Georgia. Same thing. They probably have plenty of talented kids that could play basketball but they all end up with a helmet on.
